Purse week: Purple Crush Purse

Love corduroy in the fall!
So when I saw this velvety cord fabric I really wanted to make something with it this fall.

I came across the Erica bag (by Artsy Craftsy Babe) on Sew, Mama, Sew and decided to try this pattern.
It’s a really good pattern and goes together fairly quickly.
I changed the tab to have a magnet fastener instead of the button loop.

It is lined with a satiny lining fabric in silver with purple dots. It’s a great size to hold a long wallet (which I like to use), cosmetic bag, sunglasses, etc.

The piping was made from a grey corduroy.  This cord does not have lines, so it is more like a velvet.

I have an embroidery machine, so wanted to do some kind of design on it before sewing it together.  I love the look of an outlined design, so found this cherry blossom to do.  I variegated the thread colors since it really only called for one single color and therefore did not have a stop during the stitching to change colors.  Love how it turned out.

Love being inspired by all the great entries in this contest. Never entered before, but want to post this one to it for fun.  There are some really great purses entered!
